The plant was founded in 1976 to produce Aluminium powders for Romania’s light-weight concrete industry, and it did so until 1999 when the old state-owned company was privatised and Alba Aluminiu, a family-owned and-run business, was born.

The plant has gradually undergone a process of reconstruction and modification and the company has since become one of the primary suppliers of Aluminium pastes for light-weight concrete in Romania and Eastern Europe.

In 2001 the production of Aluminium pigments started, and over the subsequent years the company market share has increased significantly to the point where the pigment paste division has now become the principal part of the business.

Alba’s Aluminium pigments are used for industrial coatings, marine anti-corrosive paints, protective coatings, can coatings, decorative coatings, roofing and bitumens, explosives, plastics compounding and master-batch plastics.
